Dum Maro Dum

So a long time ago an old co-worker of mine gave me a bunch of his favorite Bollywood songs, and I have to admit, most of them are pretty cool. This was Ay Ajnabi was one of my favorites and this one, Dum Maro Dum.

Lyrics
Take a toke
Let the pain be erased
Say all day and night
Hare Krishna, Hare Ram

What has the world given us?
What have we taken from the world?
Why should we care about everyone else?
What has everyone else done for us?

Whether we live or die
We won't fear anyone
This age will not stop us
We'll do whatever we want

Take a toke
Let the pain be erased
Say all day and night
Hare Krishna, Hare Ram

Stereotyp feat. Los Rakas

These guys are my folks and they're doin it BIG! Here's their latest track with Stereotyp. To download click the title.

Austrian aggro-dancehall producers Stereotyp linked up with Panamanian-via-Bay Area duo Los Rakas for this obviously borderless and almost genreless jam—replete with crickets, car alarms, heavy bass and barking dogs—whose ultimate destination we don’t quite know. What we do know is that we will be playing it a lot at our Oktoberfest Passa Passa.

Tinariwen - Lulla

So I need to start this with a side story. I was using Audacity today to make this podcast and I decided to go through the genre list (I always try to do that for each one even though I'm hella random) and I came across "negerpunk". Now me being me I instantly thought, they can't mean what I think they mean (niggerpunk) so I google that ish. AW HELLA NAW angry Venus comes out when she reads on Wiki (and elsewhere)
"Negerpunk is German, Dutch and Scandinavian for "negro punk", a derogatory term which is not a known genre and appears to have been added as a joke by the developers." (Wiki) Fuck you punk rock came from rock which came from blues which came from Black people. Get over it.
Seriously I need to find a new program.

Any suggestions for podcasting? email me at bayareavenus@gmail.com

Moving on, I find it semi ironic that I found that today when I'm hosting African Diaspora music.

I first heard this song from The Rolling Stones (EXCELLENT cover btw, sorry Mos Def) and I loved this song. But I DO have to give Mr. Berry his credit. It's a classic.
