on the menu tonight: the white stripes: martyr for my love for you eva cassidy: fever ella fitzgerald: alright, ok, you win amy winehouse: he can only hold her aretha franklin: i never loved a man tv on the radio: say you do
I rarely play them so every once in a while i feel the need to dedicate one night to love songs.
i when i originally set out to do this podcsat i had no real idea why i was doing it, other than ebcause i just love music. but after reveling in victory for my preferred candidate i realized i play the music publically because i want to see a change in the way music is treated in this country. there is no music in most public schools anymore, there are very few independant radio stations, and that which is on the air is heavily regulated, and now they even want to make you pay for internet radio; the last domain of freedom of artistic expression. there is no other way other than sheer curiosity that will expose us, or our children, to the rich history and liberating power of music. so what initially started as a project to help build everyone's musical library, has built itself into the fight for our right to regain access to the worlds greatest musicians. so that's why i'm here. fighting the establishment and playing what i want, royalty free, and always standing up for the little guy. ok i'm off my soapbox. i really do it cuz i love the music. stay green. v.
have you heard about the war on scientology? hackers have found a cause
It's all about the story tonight. These mucisians are great story tellers and I found them based on the premise of an awesome story.Hope you enjoy. Stay green for this one.
*Please note that the Fela track cuts short. I apologize for that, but it had to be cut because I didn't have enough room in the session, and that's how it appears on this album.
So tonight thank the North West for sending me a care package that I was in desperate need of. I got 3 data cd's full of music and I'm still trying to sort through it. Here's the top 5 of what I've come up with so far. And if you want, thank The Gov.
The craziness of this jam session just shows the craziness entering into a new year. We've had a typhoon in the Bay, everybody got strep and overall it seems a gigantic weight has been lifted off everybody's shoulders as we get a fresh new start. I suspect it's been like that all over the world. So happy new year from V to You. Let's get it started

So I had to rack my brain feverish to come up with a top 10 list for 07, and well, I couldn't. There were so many dope albums of so many different types that I figured I'd put down my list of favorite albums from 07. They are in order of favorite so I suppose there is a top 10 and everyone else is an honorable mention, but i think i love them equally for different reasons. Overall it was a great year for rock and alternative, not so hot for hip hop. What would be awsome is if you could post your top 10 of 07, and we can compare notes. You know there's no rules to the jam session, just play what you love.
