Death - The Black punk rock group from before there was Punk
This is dope, submitted to me last night by both @itsreally_sb & @harperworx
This is a group that came out in 1975, before Punk was Punk. They were Black and from Detroit, both definitely not known for punk let alone rock music. I like that they decided to do it anyway, politically charged rock music with ruckus beats. Dopeness. And though it may be late, at least they are getting their recognition now.

Funki Porcini - Undermud
Funki Porcini is my best find of the week!
via wiki
Funki Porcini is musician and film maker, James Braddell, from England. His music is a combination of Downtempo, Breakbeat and Jazz with elements of Hip hop, Drum and bass, sampling and time-stretched vocals.
He spent ten years in Italy making music for film and television. Thereafter, he returned to England. In 1994 he signed to independent record label Ninja Tune and set up his own studio, The Uterus Goldmine.
For his fourth album, Fast Asleep, Braddell worked with Team Alcohol (aka Rupert Small) to produce visual interpretations of eight tracks, which are included on the album's accompanying DVD disc.
He has also recorded as a member of 9 Lazy 9 (aka 8 Lazy Bastards), under the pseudonym Giacomo Braddellini; and released the EP "Float On" (1995), as a member of short-lived band Purr, along with DJ N4Eric (aka Toona) and Stuart Warren-Hill of Hexstatic. Recently he has been making films and animation and has worked on the scores to two films by Tony Grisoni; Syncing and The Pizza Miracle.

Yonderboi - Ohne Chanteuse
via Wiki
Yonderboi is a composer/producer whose real name is Laszlo Fogarasi. Yonderboi has released 2 studio albums up until now, the first in 2000, called Shallow and Profound, the second, named Splendid Isolation, in 2005. Currently, Yonderboi is working on his third LP.
He experimented with music on his computer during high school. After his 16th birthday he sent a demo to "Juice Records". It was quickly followed by an EP called "Cinnamon Kisses". Later his single Pink Solidism was released on the Future sound of Budapest vol. 2 compilation. At the age of 18 he moved from his remote village Mernye to Budapest. After that he made his debut album Shallow and Profound, which brought him international recognition. In 2005 his second LP Splendid Isolation followed the line.
His name is based on Yonderboy, a character in Neuromancer.

Lupe Fiasco - Lasers
I really really had to hear this album as soon as possible, and I needed to hear how it was different from the leaked album. You can tell the parts that Lupe talks about he doesn't like because, they're not quite him. Obviously the label wanted to make money, which was always the issue, they feel like he's too intelligent to be marketable. That may be true, most people aren't into smart minds, just smart looking (nerd swag is SO in). Having said that if you can sit through a few over stylized club anthems, the lyrics blow anything else out right now out of the water.
I can even forgive the overuse of autotunes if I just listen to Lupe spit.
Just a few lines to give you an idea, it really did take almost a week to fully digest this album, it will obviously take longer to process.

Words I never said:
Limbaugh was a racist, Glen Beck is a racist,
Gaza strip was gettin bombed but Obama didn't say shit
*
Now we can say it ain't our fault
If we never heard it
but if we know better, then we probably deserve it
Jihad is not holy war, where's that in the worship?!
Murdering is not Islam and you are not observant
And you are not a Muslim
Israel don't take my side
cuz look how far you've pushed em
I don't wanna care right now:
Oh-oh Go-Go-God over everything-thing
You fly but stars over everything-thing
And I’m one of them, yeah one of th-the-them
Oh I’m not o-o-one? Well I’m a hundred th-the-then
I’m a hundred mother loving stars
You’re no lights, you’re an undercover car
I’m an ambulance, and a fire truck, and some strobe lights, tied up!
Shining all in your eyes, all out of yours and all into mine
Lights and stars is all intertwined
And I’m feeling like Malcolm looking all out the blinds
You fly but stars over everything-thing
And I’m one of them, yeah one of th-the-them
Oh I’m not o-o-one? Well I’m a hundred th-the-then
I’m a hundred mother loving stars

Go buy it, and support his album so he can do what he wants on his next on and follow him on twitter @LupeFiasco

Lil Wayne - Drop The World (Beatnick Dubstep Remix)
One day I'll get off dubstep but mannnnnnnn this take me back to my drum & bass days. I'm so excited about this. In real life I just spent over 30 minutes listening to Lil Wayne dubstep remixes (apparently there's a sub genre called rapstep). The thing is, this intoxicated style of rapping actually REALLY lends itself to dubstep. I effin love it.

Chris Brown Feat Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne - Look At Me Now
1. I'm mad Chris Brown is giving me mixed feeling. He looks great, even killed his flow. But he still beat Rihanna, can't forget that.
2. Busta Rhymes just killed Chris on his own song. That's all there is to say about that.
3. Weezy was SOBER! He's great when he's sober.
4. I like this song, this is a submission from my sister @Bri_theRam
5. Don't judge me for liking this. I like all kinds of random music. Stop it. I can hear you!

Mara Hruby - The Panties cover & Is This Love cover
These next two (actually and the last one) are via @DatKidSincere what's interesting about it is I met Mara at La Pena when she performed with The Park and a bunch of other people, then I met her on the set of a video for Raka Rich of Los Rakas that isn't out yet. She is not only an amazing single, but also humble. She's great.
AND she's from The Bay Area. Hot.

The Dark Side of Oz
"The Wizard of Oz + Dark Side of the Moon.... many folks have tried to put these two together and succeeded, sort of. The people that even know about this probably still argue on which lion roar to start the album on...wait, do you start when you drop the needle on the record or when you hit play on the cd player, shit?! I put it on Vimeo so no one has to worry about syncing this ever again...This is for all you stoners and once was hippies." - Bryan Pugh

Lil Wayne Fet. Cory Gunz - 6foot7foot
First of all I like this song, don't hate Lil Wayne is actually sober on this song (it's pretty easy to tell the difference) and anyone who's been following this blog knows I love Cory Gunz. I also love Hype Williams' work. So WTF is this ratchetness? He's not even trying. He said he wanted to "focus on the lyrics". Ummm were you listening? This song doesn't tell a story, it makes no logical sense. Therefore it was your job to make it work. *sigh*

I forgot all about this video. Man the quality sucks but I wonder if I sent this with my resume would it help. I used to to plasmid mega preps, which is short for growing up big batches of circular DNA pieces and then filtering them. It's a bunch of acid base reactions. It's kind of cool in retrospect.
