See I like covers because the songs that are covered over and over are usually ones that tell a history or a universal truth.
I find it fascinating that so many different people can feel compelled to the same song and give them such personal and different meanings.
SO I listen to all of them I can find and then look up the history of the song and it all tells a story.
I went down to St. James Infirmary,
Saw my baby there,
Stretched out on a long white table,
So cold, so sweet, so fair.
Let her go, let her go, God bless her,
Wherever she may be,
She can look this wide world over,
But she'll never find a sweet man like me.
